Blizzard has officially confirmed the release date for WoW patch 12.1, titled Midnight: Curse of Ula’tek, which arrives on August 11, 2026. Arriving exactly eight weeks after patch 12.0.7, this content update sets the stage for Midnight Season 2, which is scheduled to begin one week later on August 18, 2026. The update follows the extensive content from patch 12.0.7 and brings a wide array of story, instance, and system improvements.
Journey to the Coiled Isle
The centerpiece of WoW patch 12.1 is the Coiled Isle, a foggy new outdoor zone located off the coast of Zul’aman. Players will advance both the main story campaign and the Zul’jan quest chain from patch 12.0.7, joining Arator to hunt down Xal’atath. On the island, players can participate in specialized outdoor events, including the Vaults of Atal’Utek, Curse Surges, and Cursed Fishing.
Midnight Season 2 Dungeons, Raids, and Lairs
Midnight Season 2 introduces significant additions to endgame progression. Adventurers will face an eight-boss raid named The Venomous Abyss, tackle a three-boss dungeon called Altar of Fangs, and compete in a new Mythic+ dungeon pool. The update also brings two new regular delves, a Nemesis delve, and new Prey targets across the Coiled Isle. Groups can also enter Lairs, a new instance type designed for fighting world bosses on Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties.
Player Housing Features and Interface Enhancements
Systemic updates in WoW patch 12.1 focus heavily on player housing, user interface refinements, and class updates. Housing upgrades allow players to save, import, and export custom blueprints, welcome minipets into their homes, and draw new neighborhood visitors with four new Endeavors. User interface updates feature Ping System enhancements and expanded tracking in the Cooldown Manager for trinket and potion cooldowns, alongside new quests available in the Arcantina.
