A high-profile case of Mythic+ dungeon cheating has resulted in immediate termination for a Blizzard employee near the end of Midnight Season 1. The incident took place during a high-stakes +23 Nexus-Point Xenas dungeon run involving a party that contained two World of Warcraft streamers chasing top 0.1% Mythic+ scores before the end of the season.

Suspicious Combat Logs in Nexus-Point Xenas

The situation surfaced online following a Reddit post titled “Blizzard GM death touching mobs in M+23 for their favorite streamer.” Analysis of the combat logs showed that the final boss, Lothraxion, was defeated instantly using an ability called Death Touch. This ability was cast by an external character named Daijosai, who was not part of the active five-player dungeon group. To meet the required enemy percentage count with mere seconds remaining, Daijosai also cast Area Death (TEST) to defeat a remaining Lingering Image. The key details were captured because the party's tank live-logged the run to Warcraft Logs.

Blizzard Investigation and Player Penalties

During a subsequent interview with content creator Yumytv, one streamer explained that four group members were sharing a voice call with a Blizzard employee. When facing a depleted timer, a player jokingly asked for assistance, leading the employee to execute developer-only spells on the live realm. Community manager Kaivax later confirmed the internal investigation's findings in an official forum post under the subject “Prohibited Gameplay Incident and Response.” Kaivax stated that the employee was fired immediately for violating company policies regarding developer tools. Furthermore, Blizzard penalized complicit player accounts, and streamer jdotb reported on X that one involved player received a month-long ban from World of Warcraft.

This incident raised major concerns across the competitive community regarding the integrity of high-level Mythic+ dungeon rankings. By addressing the situation transparently, Kaivax emphasized that developer tools on live realms are strictly logged and monitored by Platform Security to protect fair competition.
